In the tradition of recognizing Constitution Day, RISD
will be hosting a live community reading of the Constitution at The
Fleet Library. All members of the community are welcome to
participate, and are invited to stop by the library anytime between
11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. You will be able to read anytime you arrive, for a brief or longer time, as you choose. It will be possible for more than one person to read at the same time, as there will be a number of copies available. The reading will be video recorded. All regular activities within the library will continue as usual. Please come and have your voice be part of RISD’s

April 26: Miniature Books: 4000 Years of Tiny Treasures, a lecture on the history and design of miniature books by author Anne Bromer, Providence Public Library, Barnard Room, 2:00pm. Parallel "Tiny State Tiny Books" exhibits April 17-May 31, Providence Public Library Special Collections; April 22-30, Graphic Design Gallery cases, 1st floor, Design Center

The Office of Multicultural Affairs has placed a Better World Books donation boxes inside the Benefit Street entrance to College Building, at the Met, and on the first floor of 15 Westminster. Better World sponsors book drives on college campuses to fund and support literacy initiatives around the world. The books collected at RISD will be used for an African literacy initiative.The books will be collected on May 23rd so please contribute your recently published textbooks to this worthy cause! For more information call Deborah Kanston at 277-4957.

The Rhode Island Statewide database trial begins today, and will run until May 31st. This trial includes over 100 databases, see http://helin.uri.edu/screens/riswdbmain.html . Printing from a laptop in RISD Library
How do I set up my laptop to print to the new Pharos Uniprint system?
Go to the RISD Prints Page
Click on "15West_111, 120, 207 (RISD LIBRARY)"
For Mac: Click on 15WEST_POPUP.dmg to Download the installer package. Double click on the image. Follow instructions as they appear.
For PC: Click on 15WEST_POPUP_VISTA_XP to download the .exe installer package. Double click on the .exe installer package. Follow instructions as they appear.
Go to the RISD Prints Page

New WilsonWeb Updates
WilsonWeb (Art Full Text, Art Retrospective, Readers' Guide Index, Art Museum Image Gallery) has new updates as of March 9, 2008.
* A new Persistent URL "Link to Search" button.
* New graphics for the translation area of Full Text HTML records.
* A new "Clear Search History" button has been added to the Search History screen.
* The Art Museum Image Gallery database will now offer a convenient "Gallery View" of images for the search results.
* For all Wilson "Retrospective" databases, the date selection area on the search screen has been updated to include only choices that are appropriate for these unique databases.

My Millenium
My Millenium is a feature in our online catalog that allows you to do the following:
Go to library.risd.edu
Select My Record or Login in the right hand corner
NAME: Login with your name as it appears on your RISD ID
BARCODE: Use the barcode number on the back of your RISD ID

- Renew library items
- Place holds on library items that are checked out (click request button)
- Opt in or out of your reading history
- Save your favorite searches and be notified when new items come in that match your search(preferred searches)
- Rate library items
Go to library.risd.edu
Select My Record or Login in the right hand corner
NAME: Login with your name as it appears on your RISD ID
BARCODE: Use the barcode number on the back of your RISD ID

New JSTOR interface
JSTOR will unveil its new interface the week of March 17. You can preview the new interface via JSTOR sandbox, library.risd.edu> articles > JSTOR > sandbox (at top of page). About the new interface (from JSTOR):
- A new look and feel
- A single, improved format of PDF files, to simplify printing and expand accessibility
- Personalized account functionality, called "MyJSTOR"
- You can store your user information and your saved citations
- You can select one-time acceptance of JSTOR's Terms and Conditions for PDF access
- More efficient navigation throughout the site
- The ability to search within result sets
- Thumbnail views of article pages: see full articles at a glance

Material ConneXion Site Visits
How can RISD students and faculty arrange a visit to Material ConneXion in New York City?
There are three categories of access to Material ConneXion:
1) Free 20 minute tours for 5 or more students can be arranged by calling ahead and arranging a time.
2) Individual students can arrange for 4 hours of research access for $90. Scheduling an appointment is necessary.
3) Otherwise, Material ConneXion on-site access is arranged by an hourly, ticketed system.
One hour admittance coupons cost $50 each.
The minimum number of coupons that can be purchased at a time is fifty.
Speak to the head of your department to arrange access to Material ConneXion.
